Princess Motochika, or Chōsokabe Motochika, was a Sengoku period daimyo in Japan. He was the 21st chief of the Chōsokabe clan of Tosa Province (present-day Kōchi Prefecture) and once controlled all of the island of Shikoku. Later he was forced to serve Toyotomo Hideyoshi and gave up the other three provinces of Shikoku.
When he was young, he was a weak child with fair skin like a woman, and his father's retainers mocked him as "princess-like child". In 1650 during his first battle, it was said that he asked a samurai named Jinseiji Bungo how to use the spear. Jinseiji told him to "line up his sight with the spear point, and just rush forward". Upon hearing this, Motochika smiled "That's easy then", and fought with such renown that his clan's retainers called him "Demon-like", "Tosa's Exceptional Talent" instead of "Princess-like" anymore.
